Cultivating connection, exploring local issues, and celebrating rural communities using theater and storytelling.
“You should be proud of where you live. Living in a rural area doesn’t mean you’re settling for something less.” -Ann Thompson, Greater Milan Initiative
The Defrost Project is a collective of artists working to cultivate connection, explore local issues, and celebrate rural communities using theater and storytelling.
CURRENT PROJECT
Throughout 2020-21, we’re partnering with The Greater Milan Initiative and the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council for a community-wide theater project in Milan, Minnesota!

LEARN ABOUT OUR WORK
In July 2021, The Defrost Project presented our work at the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE)’s National Conference.
What is place-based work, and how can it support our theatre and education practices? How do our geographic spaces and identities impact our work as theatre-makers and educators? How do we explore and create “place” in virtual spaces?
Conference can access a recording of the session through AATE.
