MILAN, MN PROJECT
The Defrost Project and The Greater Milan Initiative have teamed up for a community-wide theater & storytelling project to Milan throughout 2020 and 2021. What does it mean to live in Milan? How can we stay connected despite this moment’s challenges? What does Milan need to thrive now and in the future?
Check out our upcoming events below, or contact us to set up an event with your local group or club!
Upcoming Events:
“Milan’s Messages to the Future”
July 31 - August 12
Past Events:
Milan Youth Center Spring Break Camp:
Make a Movie Time Capsule! (April 2021)
When people look back one hundred years from now, what will we want them to remember about this strange moment in history? Young people from Milan joined us for a two day spring break camp where they created an original film “time capsule” for audience members far off in 2121! What has the past year been like for young people in Milan? What challenges have they faced? What do they hope the world will be like one hundred years from now, and how can they be part of making that change? This camp was hosted in partnership with the Milan Youth Center and Greater Milan Initiative.
4H Club After School Adventures (March 2021)
In partnership with Milan’s 4H Club, we offered a short series of after-school sessions for local elementary schoolers. Together, we played games, adventured through Milan, and created an imaginary celebration for the whole community!
Greater Milan Initiative Winter Gathering
(December 2020)
Community members with all kinds of connections to joined us for an evening of fun on Zoom. We played games, told stories, and celebrated what makes Milan unique. This workshop was free and open to anyone in the greater Milan community.
This activity is funded in part with a grant from the Southwestern Minnesota Arts Council made possible by the voters of Minnesota, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
